[ DIMENSIONS ]

25 × 10 × 5 cm

A work tool made to be seen. LAYR+ moves the tool from the toolbox to the table: a marking and work instrument shown openly as a design object, between functional tool and industrial desk art. An organic three-dimensional form built from layers of metal.

Six tools fan out of the handle: hammer, nail puller, hex key, cm/inch ruler, circle gauge, bottle opener. Closed, the silhouette stays clean. Laser-cut galvanized iron, ±0.2 mm, made to order from a DXF file.

Design Decisions

Metal layers were prepared for laser cutting from a DXF file with a ±0.2 mm tolerance. The tools were arranged around a fan-pivot mechanism, and production was set up to order.
