Light treated as an interaction. Friction, sound and resistance are designed into the joint: the switch clicks, and a spring in each hinge ticks every 15 degrees, so every adjustment is heard and felt.

A black anodized aluminum tube with architectural proportions, a welded iron base, 3D-printed ABS joints and a clear resin reflector. A red cord is the single point of contrast. Fully mechanical, no batteries, LED source.

Design Decisions

Wiring, soldering and switching were integrated with the mechanism. Spring-loaded joints provide tuned stops. Aluminum tube, welded iron, printed ABS and clear resin were combined with attention to ergonomics and weight balance.
